In the news for June 21, 2019 – technically yesterday XXL hit us with a surprise drop of the 2019 freshman list. On the list is Da Baby, Gunna, Blueface, Lil Mosey, Tierra Whack, Roddy Ricch, YBN Cordae, YK Osiris, Rico Nasty and Comethazine. Geographically the list is extremely diverse this year, check out this breakdown from XXL themselves:

This year fans to be very happy with the list, check out these comments from the hiphopheads Subreddit:

According to @saycheesedigital (Say Cheese TV) and himself, Dayvon “King Von” Bennett is now also out with Lil Durk after being released on a $300,000 bond. Lil Durk’s bond was slightly lighter at 250k.

Missouri rapper Comethazine (@comethazine on Instagram) had planned his album release for midnight of June 21, 2019 (“Bawskee 3.5”) and fans began to build hype only for the album to simply not drop, with a single from the album dropping instead. Clearly in grips of his label, Comethazine shared an Instagram story saying “FUCK THE OPPOSITION” and declared the album would be coming soon. He also changed the release date to “idfk” briefly (on his Instagram). The talk from fans:

It seems as though the entirety of the album has leaked online (I won’t link to that) but it has not yet been officially released. With all the love he gets these days, interestingly enough Comethazine’s debut mixtape “Bawskee” was very poorly received by Pitchfork (2.6 rating), with the reviewer Alphonse Pierre calling it “the sound of a scam artist”.

Finally, in some unfortunate news – former stripper now extremely successful New York rapper Cardi B has just been indicted on 14 charges by a Queens Grand Jury for a “brawl” said to have taken place at a strip club. TMZ says they have confirmed her charges, including two felonies, are stemming from an early October 2018 incident where she was arrested. It is important to note an indictment is not an arrest and is just the laying of charges. From TMZ:
